Riyadh: Celebrations have begun in Saudi Arabia following the announcement that the country will host the FIFA World Cup 2034. Events are taking place globally, including lively flash mobs at London’s Piccadilly Circus and the Dubai Mall fountain.
Saudi Arabia will be the first nation to host the expanded 48-team tournament on its own, with matches scheduled in cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, and Abha.
To mark this achievement, the Saudi Tourism Authority organized activities in major international locations, showcasing Saudi culture and the host cities through vibrant flash mobs.
In Saudi Arabia, festivities were held at five notable sites: Salwa Palace, Historic Jeddah, Hegra, Rijal Almaa, and Ithra, encouraging public participation in this historic moment.
Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for the Riyadh-based Al Nassr club, expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament, stating that the preparations for the World Cup will lead to an extraordinary event. He remarked, “It’s amazing. I didn’t expect it, but it is so good. The 2034 World Cup will probably be the best World Cup ever. The infrastructure, stadiums, and conditions for fans are impressive.”
Ronaldo praised the bid’s tagline, “Growing. Together,” emphasizing the importance of collective growth in all aspects of life, not just in football. He expressed his commitment to being part of this success and confirmed his intention to attend the World Cup.
