BJP announced its candidates
BJP has announced its candidates for the Mayor election. BJP has nominated Harpreet Kaur Babla for the post of Mayor. At the same time, the names of Senior Deputy Mayor Bimla Dubey and Deputy Mayor Lakhbir Singh Billu have been finalized. This decision was taken in the councillors’ meeting held on Sunday under the chairmanship of BJP Chandigarh in-charge and Ghaziabad MP Atul Garg.
Congress and AAP did not reveal their cards
Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are contesting the elections together in Chandigarh. But both the parties have not revealed their cards yet. The post of Mayor will go to AAP and the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor will go to Congress. Six women councillors of AAP have presented their claim for the post of Mayor. Prem Lata and Jaswinder Kaur are leading in the race for the ticket.
However, party leaders say that the party’s organization secretary Sandeep Pathak will take the final decision in this regard. On the other hand, Congress has appointed Himachal MLA Kuldeep Rathore as the observer for the elections.
He will hold a meeting with councillors and other members on Monday at 11 am. However, the names of Jasbir Singh Bunty for the post of Mayor and Taruna Mehta for Deputy Mayor are being considered here.
This is the position of parties in the Municipal Corporation
If we look at the current situation, BJP is the largest party in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. BJP has a total of 15 councillors. While Congress MP Manish Tiwari is currently in Chandigarh. In such a situation, Congress has eight and AAP has 13 councillors. The magic number for victory here is 18. If there is no major upset, the All India Alliance will easily reach here.
