Mumbai: Just a week after concluding the five-concert Music of the Spheres tour in India, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin is set to take the stage at the Grammy Awards this Sunday, 2 February.
Coldplay made history last week with their biggest-ever concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 26 January. However, Chris Martin’s musical journey continues as he now heads to the Grammy Awards ceremony.
On Wednesday, the official X account of the Recording Academy, which organises the Grammy Awards, confirmed the news, sharing a picture of Chris Martin with the caption: “Chris Martin of @coldplay will join our roster of performers at this year’s #GRAMMYs (gramophone emoji).”
Other performers at this year’s event include Academy Award-nominated Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, John Legend, and Stevie Wonder, among others.
In light of the devastating wildfires that have ravaged Los Angeles, the Recording Academy has announced that this year’s Grammys will serve a greater purpose. The live telecast will raise funds for Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts and pay tribute to the first responders who have risked their lives to battle the flames. Initially, the Academy considered postponing the event or airing it as a fundraiser but ultimately decided to proceed with the show as both a celebration and a charitable initiative.
The ceremony will still take place as planned, with Beyoncé leading the nominations with 10 nods. Other multiple nominees include Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, and Chappell Roan.
