Jalandhar: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal reached Burlton Park and gave a gift to the state in the form of a new sports hub. CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal reached Burlton Park at around five in the evening.
He laid the foundation stone of the said project worth Rs 77.77 crore. Punjab Rajya Sabha MP former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, Sant Seechewal and LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal, Cabinet Ministers Mohinder Bhagat and Ravjot Singh along with other leaders were present in the program.
Let us tell you that before the program, CM Mann and Arvind Kejriwal reached the leather complex and flagged off a truck carrying rugby balls being sent from a factory to England. Kejriwal said – These balls are to be used during the international rugby match in England.
CM Mann said- Jalandhar players have brought glory to India
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Mann further said- I am a sports lover. I congratulate the people of Jalandhar for giving so many players to the country, which cannot be counted. Today, 8 players in the Indian hockey team are from Jalandhar. Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh also grew up playing in these grounds of Jalandhar and went to big countries and made India proud.
Bhagwant Mann further said- Punjab’s players have no answer in the whole country. In the middle, such governments came that Punjab’s talent went abroad. Ever since we have got the responsibility, we are giving priority to sports. Because our effort is to fill our ground with playing children. Which will help in eliminating drug addiction.
CM Mann said- there will be three international stadiums in Punjab
Sardar Bhagwant Mann said- My father and family love sports a lot. Hockey was the identity of our Punjab, the previous governments ruined Punjab. But we will make Punjab the old Punjab again.
Sardar Bhagwant Mann said- We will also change the name of Burlton Park. Regarding this, CM Mann told former cricketer Harbhajan Singh that Burlton Park will be named after some legendary player. Soon we are going to build an international stadium in Sri Amritsar Sahib. One will be in Jalandhar, one in Mullapur, Mohali. In this way, Punjab will have three cricket stadiums.
CM said- Captains of major teams of Indian team are from Punjab
CM Mann further said- We will make Punjab number one in sports. We are still on top. The captain of the Indian cricket team, the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team and the captain of the Indian football team are from our Punjab. This is the contribution of our Punjab to sports. Therefore, children should be told that we have to make our children like sportspersons.
We need to get motivated by them and not by the wrong people. FIFA World Cup is played with footballs made in Jalandhar. There are many games which are played at the international level and Jalandhar products are used in them.
Kejriwal said- Sports hub will be ready in a year
Former Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal said- Today will be a historic day in the history of Jalandhar. Because many sports will be arranged in this sports hub. Every day thousands of people will be able to come to this park and play their sports. This sports hub will be ready within a year, after a year both I and Bhagwant Mann will come here again to play.
Kejriwal further said- Today is the birthday of the great Sant Kabir Ji. Jalandhar has received this gift on the occasion of his birthday. The youth of Punjabis were pushed into drugs by the previous governments. For the last few months, we have waged a war against drugs. Drugs are sold everywhere, but the concrete steps taken by the Punjab government have not been taken by any other state. Villages after villages in Punjab are becoming drug-free.
