Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the Himachal government is going to launch the Chief Minister Sukh Shiksha Yojana in the state. Under the scheme, the government will give a grant of Rs 1,000 every month for the education, health and nutrition of the children of helpless parents. This will provide financial help to widows, destitute, divorced women and disabled parents for the education of their children. Apart from this, the government will also provide financial assistance for tuition and hostel to children for admission in higher education, diploma or professional courses.
CM Sukhu issued a statement saying that due to lack of educational and financial resources, widows and abandoned women have to face many challenges in raising their children. This scheme will become a support for these women. The scheme also aims to prevent crimes like child abuse, trafficking, child marriage and drug abuse. The CM said that in view of disability, unemployment and poverty, this scheme will also meet the needs of the children of disabled parents.
The CM said that the government has given priority to empowering the underprivileged sections from the very first day of coming to power and has started many initiatives to help them. There are some sections of the society who are unable to come to us with their complaints and difficulties but as a sensitive government, we are committed to the welfare of every section.
