Thieves have committed a major crime in Dahar village of Panipat district of Haryana. Last night, thieves stole copper wires from 12 tubewells. Farmers have suffered a loss of about 2.5 lakh rupees due to the theft. The price of wire of each tubewell is between 15 to 20 thousand rupees. On receiving the information of the case, the police have registered a case and started investigation and the search for the thieves is on.
Wires of three tubewells cut
According to local farmer Ramkaran and other victims, thieves especially target those tubewells which have expensive wires. In the theft that took place on the night of February 16, wires of three tubewells of Dinesh (son of Dharmapal) and three tubewells of Pradeep (son of Daulat Ram) were cut. Apart from this, wires of the fields of Ramkaran, Rajveer, Rajeshwar Singh and Mol Ram have also been stolen.
Police registered a case and started investigation
Farmers say that this problem occurs every year in the months of January-February, but till now not a single thief has been caught. The aggrieved farmers have lodged a complaint at Israna police station and the police is investigating the matter. Such thefts are seriously affecting the financial condition of the farmers, as they have to spend a huge amount to replace the wires again and again.
