Mumbai: Popular television actress Deepika Singh recently embraced her inner Basanti from the classic film Sholay.

She posted a humorous video on Instagram, dancing to the song “Haan Jab Tak Hai Jaan” from the 1975 movie. The clip features her “Mangal Lakshmi” co-star Naman Shaw, who plays the role of Dharmendra’s character, Veeru. He humorously quotes the iconic line: “Basanti in kutto ke samne mat nachana.”

Deepika responds with a playful twist, saying, “Nahi, jab tak hai jaan main toh reel banaungi” (No, I will make reels till I live). She then begins dancing to the classic track sung by the legendary Lata Mangeshkar, originally featuring Dharmendra, Hema Malini, and Amjad Khan as the notorious villain Gabbar Singh.

In her post, she captioned the video: “Before we roll for shoot, Mein to reel banaungi… #onlocationfun #morningvibes #deepikasingh #namanshaw.”

Sholay, directed by Ramesh Sippy, is an action-adventure film about two criminals, Veeru and Amitabh Bachchan’s character Jai, who are hired by a retired police officer, played by Sanjeev Kumar, to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh. The film also stars Hema Malini and Jaya Bachchan as Veeru and Jai’s love interests, Basanti and Radha, respectively.

Filmed over two and a half years in the rocky terrain of Ramanagara, Karnataka, Sholay was the highest-grossing Indian film at the time and held that title until Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!

Meanwhile, Mangal Lakshmi tells an emotional story about the bond between two sisters, Mangal and Lakshmi, as Mangal seeks the perfect groom for her sister.
