Hyderabad: The Telangana government has issued a directive to Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, prohibiting him from performing any songs that promote drugs, alcohol, or violence during his upcoming ‘Dil-Luminati’ concert scheduled for Friday at the GMR Arena on Airport Approach Road.
This notice was served on November 7 by the district welfare officer from the Department of Welfare for Women and Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens in Rangareddy district, following a complaint from Chandigarh-based Professor Panditrao Dharenavar. The complaint included video evidence of Dosanjh performing songs promoting substance abuse and violence at his recent concerts in Delhi on October 26 and 27.
The notice emphasizes the need to prevent the promotion of these harmful themes during live performances. Furthermore, the concert organizer has been instructed to ensure that sound levels remain within acceptable limits, specifically advising that peak sound pressure should not exceed 140 decibels for adults and 120 decibels for children, as recommended by the World Health Organization. The notice also states that children should not be allowed on stage due to the potential danger from loud music and flashing lights, which can be harmful to them.
Diljit arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday and shared videos of his exploration of the city on social media, including a memorable auto-rickshaw ride around the historic Charminar and other local attractions.
