New Delhi: As the Delhi elections approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ramped up its campaign against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in preparation for the February 5 polls.
Recently, the Delhi BJP launched numerous posters and social media messages highlighting the shortcomings of the AAP government, positioning the BJP as the solution to the city’s challenges.
One poster boldly asserted that “Delhi’s air will be clean, and every household will have access to safe drinking water” with the BJP in power.
The BJP has accused the AAP government of poor management and neglect in various critical areas. They referred to it as “Aap-da for Delhi,” stating, “When it rains, Delhi becomes a city of lakes; Mohalla Clinics are now death clinics; instead of schools, bars were opened; there’s more alcohol than medicine; Delhi lacks clean drinking water, and pothole-riddled roads pose risks to lives; garbage mountains have appeared since the AAP-controlled MCD took charge.”
The BJP promised to address these issues and replace “Aap-da” with effective governance.
A specific poster highlighted the advantages of having a “double-engine government,” which would ensure quicker and more effective development with a BJP-led administration in both Delhi and at the national level. One post proclaimed, “Delhi’s development will accelerate with a double-engine government. Modi in the heart of Delhi.”
The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP previously won the 2015 and 2020 Assembly elections by significant margins, while the BJP secured only single-digit seats during those elections, and the Congress was completely eliminated from the Assembly.
The upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi are scheduled for February 5, with votes being counted on February 8. The AAP is vying for a third consecutive term, while the BJP is making a strong push to change the outcome. Meanwhile, the Congress is also contesting independently, aiming to regain influence in Delhi after not winning a single seat in the Assembly, having previously allied with AAP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
