Ludhiana: A mysterious fire broke out last night in Gurudwara Sahib located in Ladharan village of Samrala in Ludhiana, Punjab. Scriptures and other items were reduced to ashes in the fire. The villagers came to know about the incident on Friday morning.
DSP Tarlochan Singh of Samrala said that the fire broke out near the idol of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. To investigate the incident, the DVR of the CCTV cameras of the Gurudwara premises has been confiscated. The cause of the incident will be known only after examining the footage.
SGPC has formed an inquiry committee. The committee will submit its report to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Legal action will be taken after their order.
Dispute between two committees
There has been a dispute between two committees regarding Gurudwara Sahib for some time now. This has led to a tense situation many times. The villagers have demanded a fair investigation from the administration. They have also demanded to strengthen the security arrangements of the Gurudwara.
The most worrying thing is that it is still not known who kept the flame burning throughout the night. Villagers say that this incident hurts religious sentiments. It also raises questions on the security arrangements.
