Singapore: In Singapore, approximately 35 residents were evacuated early Sunday morning after a fire broke out in an unoccupied three-story semi-detached house in the eastern region. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received the alert around 12:45 a.m. and dispatched firefighters from Kallang and Paya Lebar Fire Stations. Upon arrival, they found the fire consuming the first floor and spreading to the upper levels.

The blaze was completely extinguished by around 3:00 a.m., resulting in smoke and burn damage to the upper floors of the affected house, as well as affecting an adjacent unit. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although residents from nearby properties were evacuated as a safety measure. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This incident follows another fire on December 9, 2024, where 50 people were evacuated from a residential block in eastern Singapore due to a fire on the 13th floor of a Housing and Development Board (HDB) unit. In that case, two occupants had evacuated prior to the SCDF’s arrival and were assessed for smoke inhalation but chose not to go to the hospital. The cause of that fire is also being investigated.
