Chandigarh: On Thursday, farmers’ tents caught fire at the Shambhu border of the Haryana-Punjab border. The farmers on the border themselves controlled the fire using water buckets. As per reports, four tents and a tractor-trolley completely burnt in the mishap. It is said that the cause behind the fire breakout at the protest site is a short circuit.
Meanwhile, on receiving information, the fire department vehicle also reached the spot. According to the farmers, the trolley belonged to the group of farmer groups from Hoshiarpur. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this accident.
After the fire incident, visuals from the border have gone viral on social media. On the other hand, farmer leaders also made a video showing the conditions at Shambhu border.
One Farmer said that almost three hours had passed since the fire incident but no administrative official reached the spot.
Farmers from Punjab are at the Shambhu Border since February demanding legal provision for MSP on all crops from the central government.
