Dehradun, July 1: Mahendra Bhatt has been elected unopposed as the president of Uttarakhand BJP. The announcement of the BJP state president’s post was made at the Uttarakhand BJP Sangathan Parv. In the state council meeting, Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra announced his appointment as the president. Along with the president’s post, the members of the state council were also announced.
A meeting of the State Council was held in a private hotel in Dehradun to announce the post of president. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, state in-charge Dushyant Gautam, all MPs, cabinet ministers and the observer appointed by the Center, Minister of State Harsh Malhotra were present in this meeting.
Mahendra Bhatt was crowned as the state president in the presence of senior BJP leaders including CM Pushkar Singh Dhami. Mahendra Bhatt has become the first state president to be repeated continuously.
The central leadership and the state leadership had agreed on the name of Mahendra Bhatt. The workers and officials present in the program welcomed Mahendra Bhatt by clapping.
Mahendra Bhatt took over as the state president of Uttarakhand BJP for the first time on 30 July 2022. Mahendra Bhatt is also a Rajya Sabha MP. In 2002, Mahendra Bhatt was elected MLA from Nandprayag assembly seat for the first time. After that in 2017, he contested and won from Badrinath seat.
He lost the 2022 assembly elections. Even after losing the election, the party made him the state president of the party in 2022 itself. On April 2, 2024, Mahendra Bhatt has also been elected Rajya Sabha MP from Uttarakhand.
