Former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh honored at Gurdwara Shaheedan Sahib, Hicksville New York

Guru Nanak Sahib Gurdwaras in New York organized a special ceremony to honor Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh at Gurdwara Shaheedan Sahib in Hicksville New York.

Amritsar: Guru Nanak Sahib Gurdwaras in New York organized a special ceremony to honor Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh at Gurdwara Shaheedan Sahib in Hicksville New York. During his address, Giani Harpreet Singh shared his thoughts on the current political situation going on in SGPC and Sikh Community.

He emphasized that political parties often lose direction when internal conflicts arise, especially when a single family begins to see the party as their personal property. Giani harpreet Singh also highlighted that, within the Akali Dal, leaders have always made efforts to reconcile differences but never compromised on principles.

In relation to the controversial December 2 decision, he assured that neither political pressure nor interference influenced their stance. He also stressed that the upcoming elections for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) should not only focus on changing the management but also on overhauling the entire system.

He also expressed concerns over the lack of efforts to update the 100 year old Gurdwara Act and the failure toprovide adequate rights to Sikhs in Haryana, which led to the formation of a separate Committee.

Giani Harpreet Singh also spoke about the 2008 Hukamnama regarding the recruitment process of Jathedars and the formation of the committee, but questioned the lack of progress in this regard.

The event was attended by numerous Gurdwaras, including: Gurdwara Sikh Cultural Society Richmond Hill, Gurdwara Baba Makhan Shah Lubana, Gurdwara Baba Majha Sahib Ji, Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar Hicksville, Gurdwara Shri Guru Ravidas Sabha, Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur Ji Glen Cove, Gurdwara Sikh Center, Gurdwara Ramgarhia Singh Sabha, Gurdwara Nanak Naam Jahaj New Jersey, Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar New Jersey.

These Gurdwaras participated in honoring Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh for his leadership and vision for the Sikh community. the event was marked by unity and a collective commitment to furthering the values and traditions of the Sikh faith.
