Golden Globes 2025: Emilia Perez and Shogun steal spotlight

Los Angeles: The 2025 Golden Globe Awards were held on January 5 at the Beverly Hilton, with Hollywood’s finest in attendance. India’s hopes were pinned on Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light, which earned nominations for Best Non-English Language Motion Picture and Best Director. However, the Cannes-winning film came home empty-handed. Kapadia, dressed elegantly in black, attended the ceremony.

The night saw Emilia Perez and The Brutalist dominate the film categories, while Shogun triumphed in television. Emilia Perez, which led the nominations with ten nods, won four awards, including Best Motion Picture (Musical/Comedy) and Best Non-English Language Film. Zoe Saldana’s heartfelt acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress celebrated her co-stars and director Jacques Audiard.

The Brutalist claimed three major awards, including Best Motion Picture (Drama), with Brady Corbet winning Best Director and Adrien Brody securing Best Actor (Drama). Fernanda Torres won Best Actress (Drama) for I’m Still Here.

In television, Shogun swept four awards, including Best Series (Drama). Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai took home Best Actor and Actress (Drama) respectively, while Tadanobu Asano won Best Supporting Actor.
