Mumbai: Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has spoken about the new talent coming into the industry. At the second edition of Cinevestar International Film Festival, he expressed his opinion on the pros and cons of betting on new talent and giving repeated chances to big names.

On casting new actors, Hansal said that there is a lot of talent in today’s time but they are not being given a chance. That path has been closed in the name of security. The big names who are getting a chance again and again, how many times have they failed? What is their success percentage? When they fail, they actually sink you. If you take the risk of casting new actors, then your loss will be less. And its benefits will be many.

The director gave an example and said that in the 2000s, there were studios like UTV that supported newcomers. Applause Entertainment is doing something similar by supporting artists like Gandhi, Jahan Kapoor and Gagan Dev Riyal and making them successful. He also recently wrote about this issue on the social media platform X.

The Cinevestar International Film Festival opened on Thursday with the South Korean film ‘A Normal Family’. It also had sessions with film personalities like Vikramaditya Motwani, Nandita Das, Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan.
