Jalandhar: Punjab Rajya Sabha MP and former cricketer Harbhajan Singh on Tuesday thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for laying the foundation stone of the much-anticipated Burlton Park Sports Hub in Jalandhar. The sports facility, worth ₹77.77 crore, was inaugurated by CM Mann in the presence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal and other dignitaries.

“Today is a big day for the people of Jalandhar, and I am truly happy for them. As a sportsperson myself, I’m especially glad about the announcement of the new sports complex. I thank our Chief Minister and the entire party for recognising and prioritising the importance of sports,” said Harbhajan Singh.

CM Mann said Jalandhar has produced world-class athletes, including eight current players in the Indian hockey team. “We will revive Punjab’s sporting legacy with three international stadiums—in Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Mohali,” he said.

Kejriwal called the project a historic gift on Sant Kabir Jayanti and said the sports hub would be completed within a year, offering modern facilities and helping steer youth away from drugs.
