Haryana government to reward those who give information about tax evaders

The name and information of the person giving such information will be kept confidential.

Chandigarh: A major initiative is being taken by the Haryana government to curb tax evasion cases in Haryana, under which Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has instructed the officers of the Excise and Taxation Department that those who give information about any person / firm doing any kind of tax evasion in the state will be rewarded by the government. The name and information of the person giving such information will be kept confidential. For this initiative, a fund of Rs 2 crore will be initially provided in the Excise and Taxation Department.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired a review meeting of the Excise and Taxation Department in Chandigarh on Friday. During this, the Chief Minister also instructed the officers to eradicate the problem of drug addiction in the state and said that a portal should be developed on which any person can give information about drug smuggling. The person giving such information will also be rewarded by the government. The information of the person giving information will also be kept confidential.

The Chief Minister said that to stop drug smuggling, the officers of the Excise and Taxation Department should work in coordination with the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau and the Police so that the problem of drug addiction can be eradicated from its roots.

While giving instructions regarding taking action against those involved in making fake liquor and its smuggling, Nayab Singh Saini said that the department should make provision for the harshest punishment including imposing heavy fines against such anti-social elements.

Apart from this, action should also be taken to attach the properties acquired by such persons from black money. The Chief Minister said that during the enforcement action by the Excise and Taxation Department in cases of tax evasion and fake liquor, if information or products of drug smuggling are found, then appropriate action should be taken against the concerned accused in coordination with the police.
