Shimla, May 2: It is raining heavily in Himachal’s capital, Shimla. This has caused problems for children going to school. Children arrive at school soaked. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rains, hailstorms, and storms in five districts until 12 noon.
This warning has been issued to Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Bilaspur and Solan districts. At some places in these districts, storms can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. Last night, there was good rain in many areas and a hailstorm in some places. Apple crop has been damaged due to a hailstorm in Jubbal of Shimla district.
Chamba’s temperature dropped by 7.2 degrees
After rain and a hailstorm, the weather in the mountains has become pleasant. The average maximum temperature of the state has fallen below normal. The maximum temperature of Chamba has dropped by 7.2 degrees compared to normal, to 29.2 degrees Celsius. The temperature of Shimla, Solan, Mandi and Nahan has also dropped below normal. During the last 24 hours, the temperature of Narkanda has decreased by 4.7 degrees, and the temperature of Kufri has decreased by 4 degrees.
Chances of rain for 6 days
According to the weather department, the weather will remain bad in the state for the next 6 days. During this period, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain, storm and lightning in some areas. In many areas, storms can also blow at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.
Yellow alert in 8 districts today
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Sirmaur and Shimla districts throughout the day today, while a warning has been issued for rain, storm and lightning in all other districts except Lahaul Spiti tomorrow.
There is a forecast of heavy rain on 5 and 6 May. The weather is forecast to remain bad in the state till 7 May. This will cause a drop in temperature by four to five degrees during the next one week. The people of the state will get relief from the heat due to this.
