Heavy rain in 3 districts of Himachal today: Orange alert in Chamba, Kangra and Kullu

Heavy rain is expected in 3 districts of Himachal Pradesh today. In view of the activation of Western Disturbance along with monsoon, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in three districts for Saturday and four districts on Sunday.

An orange alert has been issued for Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts for today, while an orange alert has been issued for Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Solan districts for tomorrow.

During the next 48 hours, some areas of these districts may receive heavy rain once or twice. In view of this, the Chief Minister of the state Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has urged tourists as well as local people to be cautious. People have been advised not to go to high altitude, landslide prone areas and near rivers and streams.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of continuous rain in the state for the next six days i.e. till July 4

136 MM rain in Jubbarhatti

According to the Meteorological Department, Jubbarhatti in Shimla has received the highest rainfall of 136.0 mm during the last 24 hours. Shimla city has received 84.3 MM, Gohar 42.0 MM, Arki 40.0 MM, Mashobra 38.0 MM, Kufri 24.2 MM, Shilaru 24.2 MM, Sarahan 22.0 MM, Barthi 22.0, Kandaghat 8.4 MM, Rajgarh 11.2 MM, Theog 20.0 MM rain.

Monsoon made a strong entry in three districts

Monsoon has made a strong entry in Una, Shimla and Solan districts of the state. Light rain has occurred in other districts. After the rain, people across the state have got relief from the heat.

Monsoon arrived two-three days late

If IMD is to be believed, monsoon arrived in seven districts of Himachal two days late and in five districts three days late. Usually, monsoon enters the state between 22 and 25 June. This time monsoon arrived on 27 and 28 June.

Dr. Surendra Pal, Director of Meteorological Center Shimla, said, this time there was a slight delay in the month of May due to ‘Remal’ cyclone. He said that the pressure of the winds blowing from the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea could not be created. Due to this, the monsoon stopped in the middle.
