Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu hoisted the National Flag in Baijnath today on Statehood Day (full statehood day). During this, he announced to make Chadhiyar sub-tehsil in Baijnath a tehsil. The Chief Minister also announced to make a sub-division of the Public Works Department and a digital library in Chadhiyar.
On the other hand, nearly 4 lakh employees and pensioners of the state have been disappointed. Actually, the employees-pensioners were waiting for the announcement of payment of dearness allowance (DA) and arrears of sixth pay scale today. Pensioner Welfare Association President Layak Ram Verma said that the pensioners are disappointed with this. Their 11 percent dearness allowance and arrears of new pay scale due from 2016 were due.
During this, the Chief Minister criticized the financial management of the former BJP government. He said that the BJP government has left behind a debt of Rs 75 thousand crores as legacy. Liability of Rs 10 thousand crores of employees-pensioners was kept pending.
He said that help is not being received from the central government also. During the tenure of the previous BJP government, Rs 10249 crore was received from the Center in Revenue Deficit Grant, which will be reduced to 3257 crores in the next financial year. He said that the biggest disaster in history came in 2023. Himachal is to get 9042 crores from the Center as Post Disaster Need Assessment, but this is also not being paid. He said that the central team has also recommended this. He said that Himachal will not tolerate this injustice and will take its rights.
The Chief Minister said, the Congress government has definitely taken a loan of 30080 crores in 2 years, out of which Rs 18855 crore has been spent in repaying the principal and interest of the old loan.
The Chief Minister said that the Congress government has filled more than 12 thousand posts in the government sector in just two years. During this period, 40 thousand youth have been given jobs, whereas the previous government gave employment to only 20 thousand in five years. He said that Congress has fulfilled 6 out of 10 guarantees in just 2 years.
The Chief Minister announced to build a digital library in Baijnath
Usually, the former Chief Minister has been making big announcements for employees, pensioners and the general public on State Hood-Day. This time the employees and pensioners have the highest expectations. Their 11 percent DA (dearness allowance) and arrears of the sixth pay scale of more than Rs 9 thousand crore are pending.
The previous BJP government gave the benefits of the due sixth pay scale to the employees in 2022 from January 1, 2016. But the arrears were not paid. Therefore, two lakh employees and more than one and a half lakh pensioners are waiting for the due arrears since 2016.
