Bilaspur: The Himachal Pradesh have made a swift action in the investigation of the murderous attack on former Congress MLA Bamber Thakur, which occured on holi in Bilaspur.
Police have arrested 3 individuals Ritesh, Manjeet Nadda and Rohit Rana, who are accused of providing crucial updates to the shooters about Bamber Thakur’s whereabouts. The arrested individuals are also accused of conducting a recce of Thakur’s residence prior to the attack.
The Police have recovered a bolero vehicle and a pistol from Mandi District as part of their investigation.
According to the police sources, the attackers, identified as two wrestlers from Ritali village in Rohtak, Haryana, opened fire on Bamber Thakur and his PSO on March 14, around 3 PM, as Thakur was meeting with people at his residence. the attackers fired 12 rounds, injuring both Thakur and his PSO. Thakur was shot in his thigh while his PSO shot in leg and stomach. The PSO retaliated during attack. A viral instagram video of the shoooters, featuring a punjabi song, has surfaced, furthering the investigation. The Police are now searching for the two shooters, who are believed to be linked to a prior attack on railway line company office in fevruary 2024
Bamber Thakur, currently undergoing treatment at IGMC, is in stable condition, with specialists monitoring his recovery. Meanwhile, an SIT has been formed under the leadership of ADGP Saumya Sambashian to ensure swift action in the case. The team includes Bilaspur SP Sandeep Bhawal and other senior officials. Security for Thakur has been increased, with 10-12 policemne deployed for his protection.
