Hyderabad: On December 13, the Hyderabad Police addressed allegations of misconduct involving actor Allu Arjun during his arrest. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Akshansh Yadav stated that there was no misbehavior from the police officers involved.
According to the DCP, when police arrived at Allu Arjun’s home, he requested time to change his clothes. The officers waited outside his bedroom and took him into custody when he emerged. The police emphasized that there was no force used or misconduct during the arrest process.
The statement also clarified that Allu Arjun was allowed to spend time with his family before being taken into custody and that he voluntarily entered the police vehicle.
The actor was arrested in connection with a tragic incident during the premiere of his film “Pushpa 2: The Rule” on December 4, which resulted in the death of a woman during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre.
The police addressed a letter from the theatre management requesting security, which circulated widely on social media after the arrest. The DCP explained that the organizers did not meet with any police officials but only submitted a letter. While the police receive numerous requests for security at events involving celebrities, they cannot accommodate every request. In cases where large crowds are anticipated, organizers typically meet with police to discuss arrangements. However, in this instance, the organizers only submitted a letter without providing further details, yet the police still arranged adequate crowd control for the event.
The DCP noted that the crowd was manageable until Allu Arjun arrived. He reportedly waved to fans from the sunroof of his vehicle, which drew a large crowd to the theatre’s entrance. His private security attempted to clear a path for the vehicle, but the police had already advised his team to return due to the gathering crowd. Allu Arjun remained at the theatre for over two hours, and the DCP indicated that the police had sufficient arrangements in place, asserting that the actor’s actions contributed to the unfortunate incident that led to the woman’s death, while her son remains unconscious on a ventilator nine days later.
