Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been released from the hospital following prostate removal surgery, as confirmed by his office. The Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem also reported his discharge, stating that Netanyahu’s condition is “stable,” and he is recovering well. However, his medical team noted that he still faces a period of recovery ahead and will continue to receive customary post-surgical monitoring.
Netanyahu, 75, had the surgery on Sunday but made a brief hospital visit on Tuesday to cast his vote on an important government tax bill. This is not the first time Netanyahu has faced health issues; earlier this year, he underwent hernia surgery in March while Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Yariv Levin stepped in temporarily as Prime Minister. In July 2023, he was hospitalized for a pacemaker implant after experiencing arrhythmia and dehydration.
These health incidents have prompted some public concern regarding Netanyahu’s health and the transparency of information provided. Recently, a medical report indicated that he was in a “completely normal state of health,” with his pacemaker functioning properly and no signs of arrhythmia. Although there are protocols for Prime Ministers to publish annual health reports, Netanyahu has not done so between 2016 and late 2023. It’s important to note that he cannot be legally compelled to disclose his health information due to the lack of legal enforcement of these protocols established by the Prime Minister’s Office.
