Jalandhar: Police in Jalandhar have achieved a major success in the grenade attack case that occurred in Maqsuda, and have arrested the main accused involved in the incident.
Official sources said that the incident was a planned attack linked to Pakistan-based ISI operatives, aimed at destabilizing law and order.
Mr. Naveen Singla, IPS, DIG Jalandhar Range, informed the media that after receiving information about the grenade attack, a case was registered at Police Station Maqsuda under case number 57 dated 16.03.2025 under Section 109 BNS 3, 4, 5 Explosive Act, additional charges under Sections 13, 17 UAPA Act, and 61 BNS. A special team was formed under the leadership of Sh. Gurmeet Singh PPS, SSP Jalandhar Rural. The investigation was led by Ms. Jasroop Kaur Bath, IPS, SP Investigation, who deployed various teams under the supervision of Mr. Manpreet Singh Dhillo, SP Special Crime.
After 36 hours of intensive efforts, based on technical and human intelligence, the main accused Hardik Kamboj (resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana) was arrested on March 17, 2025. This accused had connected with Jashan Akhtar via Instagram a year ago and was introduced to Shahzad Bhatti.
The accused have been identified as Hardik Kamboj, 19 son of Jatinder Kamboj, resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana.
On March 18, 2025, after interrogation, the accused was taken to a vacant plot in front of Raipur Rasoolpur Road, Police Station Maqsuda, where the accused attempted to flee from police custody. In the process, he was shot in the leg and injured. The police recovered a .32 bore pistol and 06 live cartridges from him.
The accused was immediately sent to Civil Hospital Jalandhar for treatment. An additional case number 59 dated 18.03.2025 has been registered under Sections 109, 221, 132, 261, 62 BNS 25-54-59 Arms Act, Police Station Maqsuda.
Mr. Naveen Singla, DIG Jalandhar Range, issued a strong warning, stating that any elements trying to disturb peace, law, and order in society will not be spared under any circumstances. He assured that all efforts will continue to maintain peace and law in Punjab. He also appealed to the public to inform the police immediately if they come across any anti-social activity.
Earlier on March 16, at approximately 3:45 AM, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle threw a grenade at the house of Navdeep Singh alias Roger Sandhu, a popular YouTuber and social media influencer, in village Raipur Rasoolpur, Police Station Maqsuda.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the attack was carried out by individuals connected with Pakistan-based ISI operative Shahzad Bhatti.
