Mumbai: Actress Kamya Panjabi expressed that wearing sarees has become a significant way for her to express herself on World Saree Day, celebrated today.
Kamya mentioned, “I travel frequently for events across various cities, and I always receive compliments on my sarees wherever I go.”
World Saree Day, observed annually on December 21, celebrates the traditional Indian garment.
She noted that people appreciate her saree styles, unique blouse designs, the way she drapes her saree, and even the small details like the pins she uses in her hair bun. “Their admiration means a lot to me and motivates me to wear sarees each time,” she added.
Kamya finds it incredible how a saree can evoke memories. “It’s fascinating how a simple saree can spark conversations and create lasting memories. The compliments I get inspire me to explore new styles and deepen my appreciation for this beautiful tradition.”
Regarding her role in “Ishq Jabariya,” Kamya plays Mohini, the aunt of Aditya, portrayed by Lakshay Khurana. The show tells the heartwarming story of Gulki, played by Siddhi Sharma, a spirited young woman navigating challenges on her journey to love and self-discovery. The series airs on Sun Neo.
Kamya gained fame through her performances in shows like “Reth,” “Astitva…Ek Prem Kahani,” “Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann,” “Piya Ka Ghar,” “Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak,” and “Kyun Hota Hai Pyaar.” She also participated in the second season of the comedy show “Comedy Circus” and was a contestant on “Bigg Boss 7,” which was won by actress Gauahar Khan.
