New Delhi: BJP Member of Parliament from Mandi and actor Kangana Ranaut recently deleted a controversial post on X in which she drew a comparison between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former U.S. President Donald Trump. The tweet came in response to Trump’s remarks urging Apple CEO Tim Cook to avoid shifting manufacturing to India. Following advice from BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Kangana promptly removed the post.
In her post on X (formerly Twitter), Ranaut had shared her views on Trump’s remarks made during a business forum in Doha. Trump had expressed disapproval over Apple CEO Tim Cook’s plans to expand production in India, citing concerns over fair trade practices and tariffs. He emphasized that India is a high-tariff nation and suggested that Apple’s investments should benefit the U.S. rather than facilitate India’s growth.
Respected national president Shri @JPNadda ji called and asked me to delete the tweet I had posted regarding Trump asking Apple CEO Tim Cook not to manufacture in India.
I regret posting that very personal opinion of mine, as per instructions I immediately deleted it from…— Kangana Ranaut (@KanganaTeam) May 15, 2025
Following Nadda’s call, Ranaut expressed regret for sharing her personal opinion and confirmed the deletion of her original post. She stated, “Respected national president Shri @JPNadda ji called and asked me to delete the tweet I had posted regarding Trump asking Apple CEO Tim Cook not to manufacture in India. I regret posting that very personal opinion.”
This incident underscores the political sensitivity in India surrounding international business and trade issues, especially when involving high-profile political figures and multinational corporations.
