Firing at Kapurthala toll plaza: Four youths open fire on toll worker

In a shocking late-night incident, four unidentified youths opened fire at a toll worker at the Dhilwan toll plaza in Punjab’s Kapurthala district.

Kapurthala, June 26: In a shocking late-night incident, four unidentified youths opened fire at a toll worker at the Dhilwan toll plaza in Punjab’s Kapurthala district. The incident occurred around 12:33 a.m. on June 25, when a white Creta car without a number plate approached the plaza from Jalandhar.

Driver refused toll slip, tried to escape

According to toll worker Jugraj Singh, the youths in the Creta car did not collect a toll slip. When the staff attempted to stop them, the driver tried to speed away. The car was eventually forced to stop after staff set up a barricade.

Fired 3-4 rounds at toll booth

After being stopped, all four occupants stepped out of the vehicle. One of them fired 3-4 rounds in the direction of the toll plaza before the group fled the scene, heading towards Beas. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Incident captured on CCTV

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the toll plaza. Dhilwan police station was alerted and officers arrived at the scene shortly afterwards. The CCTV footage has been taken into police custody for investigation.

FIR registered, hunt for accused underway

SHO Dalvinderbir Singh confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed based on the complaint from the night shift in-charge at the toll. The police are currently working to identify the suspects using the CCTV footage and surrounding area cameras.
