Bengaluru: The Karnataka Lokayukta has launched raids at 25 locations statewide in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case involving four government officials.
According to sources from the Lokayukta, raids are taking place in various cities including Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Chikkaballapur, Davanagere, and Mandya.
In Bengaluru, the residences and offices of a director from the Bengaluru Urban Planning Department are under investigation, along with properties owned by his wife in Davanagere and nearby areas. Lokayukta Inspector Prabhu and his team are leading the operation.
A special team led by Lokayukta SP Srinath Joshi found a significant amount of gold and silver during the raids at the director’s home.
Additionally, the home of a Managing Director of the Cauvery Neeravari Nigama and his relatives in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya, and Malavalli are also being searched. The raids extended to a petrol bunk in KRS village owned by the Managing Director’s wife.
The Lokayukta’s investigation includes a woman officer from the Mining and Geology department, whose residence in Mangaluru was raided after her recent transfer from Chikkaballapura. Officers are currently examining documents at both her office and home.
Furthermore, the properties of an SP from the State Excise department in Vajarahalli are also being raided, with a team of 15 officers executing the search. During this operation, officers have taken his wife to the bank for further inquiries.
As of now, the Lokayukta has not released an official statement regarding these raids and inspections.
This series of raids follows previous operations conducted by the Lokayukta on November 12, which targeted government officers’ residences and offices in Bidar, Belagavi, Dharwad, Mysuru, and Davanagere, based on information regarding their accumulation of disproportionate wealth.
