Khandelwal reacts on allegations against Gogoi’s wife, says such people break country’s unity

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party MP Praveen Khandelwal on Monday while responding to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s reply on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s allegations on goggi’s wife and said that country knows who have links with George Soros and who is funded by him. 

Speaking with the reporters, BJP MP Khandelwal said, “The country knows who had links to George Soros, who is funded by George Soros. Such agencies and such people want to break the unity, sovereignty and integrity of India. Gaurav Gogoi’s statement makes it clear who stands with whom.”

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has alleged that Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s wife Elizabeth has links with a Pakistani national Ali Taquqeer. The Assam police has also registered a case against a said Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh after receiving the orders from the Assam cabinet on Sunday.

The Criminal Investigation Department of the Assam Police has registered FIR against as a CID case PS Case No 05/2025 U/S 48/152/ 61/197 (1) BNS, 2023 RW Sec. 13 (1) UA (P) Act.

CM Sarma went to his ‘X’ handle and informed about the development. He wrote, “In pursuance of the Cabinet decision taken yesterday, Assam Police has lodged an FIR and the same had been registered against Ali Tauqeer Sheikh and unknown others.”

Himanta also challenged Gaurav Gogoi over his remarks on appropriate legal action regarding the allegations related to his wife

“India is a democratic country. Everybody can take appropriate action. If he goes to the Court, it will be very good. Then many matters which today we cannot speak of, we can speak before the judge…If he decides to go to the court, we will welcome that and this will expedite the process of inquiry. If anybody is innocent, they will be declared innocent by the court of law. We have no objection to it but this matter needs to be investigated very seriously,” the Chief Minister said.
