New Delhi:  Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani has been admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi due to a decline in his health. The former Deputy Prime Minister, who is 97 years old, was hospitalized late Friday night and this marks his fourth hospitalization in recent months.

While the specific cause for this latest admission is not yet known, doctors have reported that his condition is currently stable. Advani, who served as Home Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, earlier this year. He was unable to attend the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan and instead received the award at his home.

As one of the founders of the BJP and a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Advani played a pivotal role in the Ram Temple movement, famously initiating his Rath Yatra from Somnath in September 1990 to garner support for the temple.

On November 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Advani’s home to wish him a happy birthday, sharing a photo on social media in which he presented a bouquet to the leader. Modi expressed his heartfelt wishes for Advani’s birthday, noting the significance of this year’s celebration as it coincided with the Bharat Ratna award. He praised Advani as a respected leader who has dedicated his life to the country’s development and expressed his hopes for Advani’s long and healthy life. Modi also acknowledged the valuable guidance he has received from Advani over the years.
