Legal guarantee of MSP is not a burden but will make an important contribution to the GDP : Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi has said that with the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) the country's farmers will not become a burden on the budget, but will contribute significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

New Delhi :

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi today made a big claim about the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). He has said that with the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) the country’s farmers will not become a burden on the budget, but will contribute significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Rahul Gandhi also said that it is being lied that it is not possible to legally guarantee the minimum support price in view of the budget. Recently, the Congress had promised that if the India Alliance comes to power at the Center in 2024, the farmers will be given a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price.

He said that according to CRISIL, giving MSP to farmers in 2022-23 would result in an additional burden of Rs 21,000 crore on the government, which is only 0.4% of the total budget.

Rahul Gandhi said that in the country where bank loans of 14 lakh crore rupees have been waived off and corporate tax exemption of 1.8 lakh crore rupees has been given, why does even a small amount of expenditure rub off on the farmers? He said that the guarantee of minimum support price will increase investment in agriculture, increase demand in rural India and also give confidence to farmers to grow different types of crops, which is a guarantee of prosperity of the country.
