The Argentine superstar played a crucial role in leading Miami to its first Supporters’ Shield title and setting a new MLS single-season points record with 74.
Despite facing injuries and international commitments during the Copa América, Messi’s individual stats were remarkable. He recorded 36 goal contributions (20 goals and 16 assists), ranking as the fifth-highest total in a single season in MLS history, while playing only 19 matches and logging 1,485 minutes. His influence on the game was evident, averaging an impressive 2.18 goal contributions per 90 minutes, with 15 of his 19 appearances resulting in goals or assists, and achieving multiple contributions in 11 matches.
Under Messi’s leadership, Inter Miami had an impressive record of 12 wins, 1 loss, and 6 draws during the regular season, averaging 2.68 goals per game. The team also made history by being the first in MLS to achieve at least 11 wins both at home and away.
In 2024, Messi became one of only three MLS players to achieve at least 20 goals and 15 assists in a single season, joining the ranks of Carlos Vela (2019 LAFC) and Sebastian Giovinco (2015 Toronto FC).
