Ludhiana: In Ludhiana, Punjab, after the power went out, when the house became dark, after lighting a candle in the kitchen, there was an explosion in the kitchen, and all the household items were burned to ashes. Thankfully, there was no loss of life. After a lot of hard work, the people of the neighbourhood somehow managed to control the fire themselves.
Last evening, in Gali No. 1 of Ghamodiya Colony on Tibba Road in Ludhiana, all the items were burned to ashes due to an explosion in a house. At the time the house caught fire, there was no one in the house. Due to this loss of life was avoided, but the items kept in the house were burned.
The owner of the house, Savita Rani, told me that she had gone to the market for some work. The children had also gone to work; when she returned home after a while, she saw that the house was on fire. She told me that it became dark in the house after the power went out. She lit the candle lying in the kitchen. After which she went to the market, and a fire broke out behind her.
The neighbours told me that as soon as the candle was lit, there was already a leakage in the gas cylinder pipe. Due to this, there was an explosion due to leakage of gas in the kitchen. People told me that there were two gas cylinders kept in the house. People somehow took them out of the house, and a big accident was averted. If the fire had caught the gas cylinder, the nearby houses could have been damaged.
Shubham and Gulshan Kumar, who live in the neighbourhood, told me that people themselves controlled the fire with the help of water. By the time the fire brigade arrived, the fire had been controlled to a large extent. They told me that all the goods and furniture kept in the house were burned and destroyed.
