New Delhi: On January 13, as the Maha Kumbh festival commenced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed that this day holds special significance for millions who value Indian culture and traditions. He emphasized that the Maha Kumbh represents India’s enduring spiritual legacy and fosters faith and unity.

In a message shared on social media, PM Modi extended his greetings to pilgrims and tourists, wishing them a fulfilling experience during the Maha Kumbh. He noted that the festival began with the holy dip on Paush Purnima at Prayagraj, a day deeply rooted in faith and culture. He expressed his heartfelt salutations to all devotees and hoped the festival would infuse new energy and enthusiasm into their lives.

The Prime Minister highlighted the vibrant atmosphere in Prayagraj, filled with countless individuals taking part in the sacred rituals. He remarked, “A very special day for crores of people who cherish Bharatiya values and culture!”

The Maha Kumbh 2025, taking place from January 13 to February 26, is expected to attract over 450 million visitors, showcasing India’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions. On the first day, devotees participated in the ‘Shahi Snan’ at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers.

To ensure safety during the festival, extensive security measures have been implemented, including the use of underwater drones for surveillance and tethered drones for aerial monitoring. Over 2,700 AI-enabled cameras will provide real-time monitoring and facial recognition at entry points.

Authorities have prepared 150,000 tents for pilgrims, along with additional sanitation facilities. The Kumbh is expected to consume more electricity than what 100,000 urban apartments would use in a month, with 450,000 new electricity connections already installed. Special arrangements for transportation include electric buses and 98 special trains by Indian Railways making 3,300 trips throughout the festival.

Healthcare provisions have also been prioritized, with temporary hospitals equipped for surgical and diagnostic needs established to cater to the influx of visitors.
