Mandi (Himachal): In Mandi city, Himachal Pradesh, no individual will be allowed to operate a food cart without registration. The Mandi Municipal Corporation has also made it mandatory for all street vendors to display a name plate. Name plates will be distributed within a day or two by the corporation. Unauthorized vendors will be identified and action will be taken against them as per regulations.
Previously, the municipal corporation had a record of 350 street vendors, but a recent survey in the vending zone revealed several carts without any owners, and some vendors were found to be inactive. As a result, approximately 100 licenses have been revoked, leaving the number of registered vendors at 250.
The Mandi Municipal Corporation has decided to issue name plates to eligible street vendors. Fifty name plates have already been distributed, while the remaining 200 have arrived at the municipal office and will be distributed soon. The name plates will allow customers to easily find the name and address of the vendor, and in case of any issues, customers can lodge complaints with the municipal corporation. The introduction of name plates will also facilitate the identification of unauthorized vendors. The corporation has clarified that only registered street vendors will be permitted to conduct business in the city.
Following the survey of street vendors, all licensing procedures have been completed. Licenses have now been issued to all street vendors and food corner owners in the city, and name plates will soon be provided. The distribution of name plates to 200 street vendors will take place within a day or two.
