Nurpurbedi: MP and former Union Minister Manish Tewari raised the issue of the Lahore High Court’s remark regarding the martyr Bhagat Singh in the Lok Sabha, asking the External Affairs Minister about the steps taken to protest against Pakistan’s comments. Tewari also inquired what measures the central government has taken in light of the rising intolerance and anti-India sentiments in Pakistan, which are evident in the treatment of great personalities like Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

Additionally, he asked what actions the government has taken to preserve the legacy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and to promote recognition of his contributions to India’s freedom struggle on a global level. In response, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh stated that the Indian government has taken strong note of the objectionable comments made about Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Pakistan and has formally expressed its dissent to the government there through diplomatic channels.
