Bengaluru: In light of the ongoing unrest and reported violence against minorities in Bangladesh, numerous Hindu organizations, united under the banner of ‘Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike,’ held a large protest in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Wednesday.
The demonstration highlighted the increasing violence and persecution faced by Hindus and other minorities, including Christians and Buddhists, in Bangladesh, with protestors calling for global intervention and stronger action from the Indian government.
Reports indicate over 2,000 documented incidents of violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, resulting in at least nine deaths among these groups.
The protest intensified following the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh, whose bail hearing was delayed due to the absence of a lawyer, further igniting anger within the Hindu community.
One protestor stressed the importance of unity, stating, “We must awaken and unite; everyone needs to stand together. This government belongs to us, and it is our responsibility to guide not only Bangladesh but the entire world.”
Another protestor, Seerisha, voiced her deep concern for the situation of Hindus in Bangladesh, saying, “India supported Bangladesh for peace, but now Hindus are victims of Islamic terrorism. The world must come together to support Hindus everywhere.”
Ravi criticized the Bangladesh government’s response, expressing sadness over its support for violent acts against Hindus. He urged the Indian government to take action to protect the community.
Ramesh, a protestor from West Bengal, reflected on the sacrifices made during Bangladesh’s liberation from Pakistan, stating, “I witnessed the liberation of Bangladesh. Our soldiers sacrificed their lives for that country, and now Hindus are being oppressed. This is unacceptable.”
Karunakar condemned the human rights violations as a massacre of minorities, demanding more decisive measures from the Indian government and emphasizing, “The situation in Bangladesh is intolerable, and we call for stronger actions against these atrocities.”
