Islamabad: The much-loved romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam is set to return with a sequel in 2026, following its successful re-release nine years after its original debut. Producer Deepak Mukut has officially confirmed the sequel, with Harshvardhan Rane reprising his role. However, Mawra Hocane, who played the female lead in the first film, is yet to confirm her participation.
Despite facing competition from recent releases, Sanam Teri Kasam has once again won the hearts of audiences during its theatrical comeback. Speaking to Mid-Day, Hocane revealed that she had been approached for the sequel but had not yet read the script. “The producer reached out to me for the second part. I’ve not read the script yet; it’s in my inbox,” she said, adding that she wished the team success, whether or not she became part of the project.
Earlier, in an interview with Connect Cine, Hocane expressed her willingness to reprise her role but emphasised that she would be happy even if another actress took on the character, showing her gratitude for the film’s ongoing popularity.
Filmmakers Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who directed the first instalment, shared that Sanam Teri Kasam was always planned as a two-part story. The emotional climax of the first film, where Inder walks towards the tree as Saru’s voice echoes, was intentionally crafted to hint at a sequel. With the script finalised and most songs completed, the sequel is set to release by Valentine’s Day 2026.
As fans eagerly await further updates, the possibility of seeing Mawra Hocane and Harshvardhan Rane reunite on screen promises to rekindle the magic of the original film, offering another emotionally charged love story.
