Punjab: Tension erupted outside Moti Nagar police station in Ludhiana around 11:30 pm after the family of Gurjinder Singh alias Gora, who had been missing for 42 days following a quarrel, discovered that his body had been found and cremated by Morinda police without their knowledge. The body was recovered from the banks of a canal in Morinda, and identification was confirmed postmortem.
ASI Bua Singh arrested
At the same time, the police had detained ASI Bua Singh for questioning late last night. He has been arrested today. ASI Bua Singh was taken to court for presentation. ACP Jaswinder Singh Khaira said that the ASI has been arrested. Investigation so far has revealed that his weapon was used in the murder of the youth. The car in which the family has alleged that the deceased youth was taken is also being forensically investigated.
Let us tell you here that even today when some media personnel took pictures of the vehicle used in the incident, the police personnel made the media persons delete the photos.
The family of the deceased has leveled serious allegations against the Moti Nagar police for giving VIP treatment to ASI Bua Singh. The family has alleged that the police has made ASI Bua Singh sit in front of the AC and he is sitting on the on-duty chair of a policeman.
Giving information about the incident of April 16 , the mother of the deceased Gurjinder Singh Gora, Ranjit Kaur said that her son Gurjinder Singh Gora was at home on April 16, during which the ASI and his companions took him to a friend’s house to drink alcohol. There the ASI had an argument with Gurjinder Singh over something and the matter escalated to a scuffle.
But the people present there hushed up the matter. After that night Gurjinder Singh went missing under suspicious circumstances. His family had lodged a complaint in the police station on April 18, but the police remained lax. Then when they appeared before the officers, a case was registered. Here, the family members say that he has been murdered by the ASI.
Family’s allegation- ASI committed the crime with two companions
The family alleged that their son Gurjinder Singh was missing and ASI Bua Singh along with his two colleagues murdered him. Ranjit Kaur said that the family has got ASI Bua arrested. After which the ACP has given them complete information about the case. Let us tell you here that Ludhiana Police had made Gurjinder’s picture viral in all the police stations of Punjab.
Morinda police contacted Ludhiana police. They informed that they had found the body of a person with the same appearance as the missing person and since he could not be identified, they got his postmortem done and cremated him under Section 174.
The matter will be revealed after investigation- ACP Jaswinder Singh ACP Jaswinder Singh said that after the youth went missing, his body was recovered from the canal by the police of Morinda police station. The family has accused the ASI and his colleagues but all the allegations are being investigated from our side. ASI Bua Singh has been arrested. The entire incident will be revealed during the remand.
