New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Tuesday has issued an advisory urging media organisations to respect the privacy of senior Armed Forces personnel and their families, especially amid ongoing operations like Operation Sindoor.
The advisory notes that increased media interest in senior officers has extended into their personal lives, with reporters reportedly approaching residences and contacting family members without consent. The Ministry termed such actions “deeply inappropriate” and warned they compromise the dignity, safety, and privacy of officers and their families.
Media outlets have been advised to refrain from unsolicited visits or interviews, avoid publishing personal details, and focus solely on professional and operational aspects of military activities. The advisory stresses respecting privacy, particularly during active operations or periods of heightened national security.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency, the Ministry appealed for adherence to ethical journalism standards.
