Hoshiarpur, Aprtil 17: Member of Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, along with officials, today took a round of local Grain Market to take stock of ongoing wheat procurement and said all requisite arrangements had already put in place to ensure seamless crop purchase as well timely lifting and crediting payments to the accounts of farmers.
Dr. Chabbewal stated that all necessary measures have been implemented to guarantee a hassle-free purchase of wheat, along with the timely lifting of produce and swift credit of payments to farmers’ accounts. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting farmers during the procurement season.
In related developments, the Punjab government has set up 600 temporary procurement centres in addition to the existing 1865 mandis to manage the expected high volume of wheat arrivals. The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is set to produce 124 lakh metric tonnes of wheat at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs. 2,425 per quintal.
This proactive approach aims to address any potential challenges and provide farmers with a seamless experience during the procurement season.
