New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman celebrated the strength and contributions of women in India on International Women’s Day, stating that “Nari Shakti” is breaking barriers, rewriting history, and paving the way for a brighter future for the country.

In a post on X, Sitharaman’s office emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s transformative leadership, women are being empowered with equal opportunities, financial independence, and a more prominent role in nation-building. The post highlighted the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment through various policies and initiatives.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to “Nari Shakti” on the occasion, acknowledging the strength and impact of women in India. In a tweet, he shared that his social media platforms would be handed over to women from diverse fields, allowing them to showcase their achievements and work.

“We bow to our Nari Shakti on #WomensDay! Our government has always worked for empowering women, reflected in our schemes and programs. Today, as promised, my social media properties will be taken over by women who are making a mark in diverse fields!” the Prime Minister wrote.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his appreciation for the significant contributions of women in India. He stated, “On International Women’s Day, I express my deep appreciation for the immense contributions of India’s Nari Shakti in building and strengthening our nation.”

As part of the Women’s Day celebrations, Prime Minister Modi had promised to hand over his social media accounts, including X and Instagram, to inspiring women. Achievers such as Elina Mishra, a nuclear scientist, and Shilpi Soni, a space scientist, took over the PM’s social media accounts for the day, sharing their experiences and achievements with the nation.
