Mumbai: ZEE5 has unveiled the gripping teaser of its upcoming biographical drama Costao, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role. The film is inspired by the life of fearless customs officer Costao Fernandes, who took on Goa’s most dangerous smuggler in the 1990s. Directed by Sejal Shah, the teaser hints at a powerful performance by Nawazuddin, portraying both the professional challenges and personal sacrifices faced by the officer during his crusade against crime.
Described as a “hero with no cape – just a white uniform”, the teaser sets the tone for an intense narrative of bravery and integrity. The film depicts Fernandes’ daring solo mission to foil the biggest gold smuggling operation into India, raising an important question: what does it really cost to stand your ground? The project is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Bhavesh Mandalia, Sejal Shah, Shyam Sunder, and Faizuddin Siddiqui, under the banners of Bhanushali Studios Limited and Bombay Fables Motion Pictures.
Actress Priya Bapat will be seen playing a key role alongside Nawazuddin. Meanwhile, the actor is also preparing for the release of Raat Akeli Hai 2, a sequel to his 2020 crime thriller, co-starring Chitrangda Singh and directed by Honey Trehan. With Costao, Nawazuddin adds yet another intense and meaningful role to his filmography, promising audiences an inspiring and action-packed watch.
