Mumbai: Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia recently honored her late father-in-law, the renowned cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, with a touching tribute.
On her Instagram, Neha shared the story of a cherished gift from her father-in-law—a vintage Indian cricket sweater he wore during his illustrious career. She posted photos of herself wearing the test cricket sweater, which has become a treasured family heirloom, rich in both historical and sentimental value.
In her caption, Neha, who is married to actor Angad Bedi, wrote, “Wearing this sweater brings a unique warmth… I vividly recall when dad asked what I would like as a wedding gift; I told him his test cricket sweater would be the most special gift for me… so here it is, along with his strength, resilience, integrity, and generosity. I also feel a sense of honor wearing this while watching my first Test match in person… We miss you every day, dad.”
Neha reminisced about the emotional moment she received the sweater as a wedding gift. “When I married Angad, I had my heart set on one specific piece of memorabilia. It’s not just a sweater; it’s a historical artifact that embodies the spirit and legacy of Indian cricket. I requested it as a wedding gift, and dad kindly agreed. To me, it symbolizes resilience, excellence, and an everlasting connection to the sport he cherished,” she shared.
Bishan Singh Bedi wore the sweater during several historic matches. In a heartfelt homage to his memory, Neha chose to wear the sweater while attending a Test match during the ongoing India vs. Australia series.

For those unaware, former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi passed away on October 23, 2023, after battling age-related health issues and undergoing multiple surgeries in recent years.
