Patna: On January 4, the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Patna Junction filed an FIR against Rajesh Ranjan, commonly known as Pappu Yadav, along with seven associates, for obstructing railway operations at Sachiwalay Halt on Friday.

The protest, spearheaded by Yadav, aimed to show support for BPSC candidates who are demanding the cancellation of the 70th Preliminary examination throughout Bihar, leading to the blockage of railway services at the halt.

Pappu Yadav and his supporters are facing allegations of impeding train services and vehicle movement, which caused public inconvenience. They organized the demonstrations without obtaining the necessary permission from authorities.

The individuals booked alongside Yadav include Raju Danveer, Rajiv Mishra, Abhijeet Singh, Faizan Ahmed, Premchand Singh, Suraj Gupta, and Purushottam Kumar Singh, under applicable charges at the GRP police station in Patna.

During the protest, Yadav and his supporters briefly occupied the railway tracks at Sachiwalay Halt to halt train operations. This action was part of a prearranged plan in support of candidates who have been on a hunger strike for 17 days, pressuring for the cancellation of the BPSC Combined Preliminary Examination.

In anticipation of possible disturbances, the Patna district administration deployed a significant police presence at the site. Nevertheless, Yadav and his supporters managed to enter the station grounds and sit on the tracks.

Yadav has pledged to continue the protests until their demands are met, including taking legal action in the Supreme Court. He emphasized his dedication to the cause, stating, “We will approach the Supreme Court regarding this issue. The BPSC has acted unjustly, and the entire examination must be canceled. Our protest will persist until we stop the paper leak in Bihar and the country.”
