Punjab : The Election Manifesto of Shiromani Akali Dal emphasizes traditional, panthic and Punjabi, citing the party’s rich legacy of struggle and the sacrifices made by selfless warriors.
In its election manifesto, which the party has dubbed ‘Alan Name’ for the June 1 Lok Sabha polls.
The party’s manifesto declared that with the mandate of the people, it would cancel all agreements and decisions made on river waters without the consent of Punjab, which are against internationally accepted riparian principles.
Chandigarh was and will remain a part of Punjab and it was made a UT for five years only. We will fight hard against the betrayal of Punjab by the Center in this matter.
The declaration further said that the party will work on the basis of mutual agreement between the two countries to bring Kartarpur Sahib from Pakistan to India using the mandate of the people as was done earlier in the case of Hussainiwala border and Bangladesh. The party promised that it would work through the Government of India to ensure that the passport requirement for visiting Kartarpur Sahib is abolished and replaced by a simple permit system.
The Akali Dal will stand for every class and oppose the imposition of a uniform common civil code in every situation. The election manifesto said that the party will demand constitutional status for the National Minority Commission and its term of office will be fixed for six years and will demand the status of cabinet for the chairman and minister of state status for the members.
He said that we will establish small, medium and MSME industrial units in the border districts in collaboration with the Centre. The party also emphasized on the need for vocational training institutes in this belt as per the industrial requirement. they will be given industrial concessions along with development packages which have been given to the neighboring states of Punjab.
It was said that Akali Dal is the biggest democratic voice of farmers and farm workers which strongly supports their struggle for justice. The party will use its mandate to give MSP a legal guarantee.
The party promised to give 20 percent subsidy on diesel to small and partial farmers. The party said that it will demand Rs 50 lakh compensation for the families of the farmers who were martyred in the farmers’ struggle and that one member of the family should be given a government job.
An increase in personal income tax exemption by another 4 lakhs from the current rate.
Also promised to fight for the demand of one rank and one pension in the services.
The Agniveer scheme was opposed and the demand for regular recruitment in the army was emphasized. Akali Dal also demanded economic protection and dignity for Asha and mid-day meal workers as well as Anganwadi workers. The party will also demand that their services be regularized by paying them a good salary and that MNREGA workers be given at least 150 days of work.
