Los Angeles: A tragic incident occurred at Kahului Airport in Maui, Hawaii, where a deceased individual was found in the wheel well of a United Airlines aircraft after its arrival. The Boeing 787-10 had flown from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport as United Flight 202.
United Airlines confirmed the discovery on Wednesday, stating that they are cooperating with local law enforcement in the ongoing investigation. The airline noted that the wheel well is only accessible from outside the plane, and it remains unclear how or when the individual accessed this area.
The Maui Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the deceased person. Despite the seriousness of the situation, airport operations are reportedly continuing as normal. The Federal Aviation Administration has previously highlighted the dangers of low oxygen levels and extreme temperatures in aircraft wheel wells, making survival in such conditions extremely unlikely.
