Mumbai: In a recent conversation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh about India’s deep-rooted values of sustainability, emphasizing that the country lacks a “throwaway culture.” He highlighted that recycling and reusing are ingrained in the Indian ethos.

Modi stated, “In India, we see the divine in nature. We don’t waste anything, and the concept of recycling is inherent to us, even if the world is just discovering it.”

He encouraged citizens to plant a tree in honor of their mothers, saying, “If your mother is alive, take her with you to plant a tree for her. It will serve as a living memory. If she has passed, bring a photo of her. Both the mother who gave us life and Mother Earth deserve our respect, and many people are participating in this initiative.”

During their chat, Diljit shared insights about his ongoing tour in India. “This is our first and largest tour in the country, and we’ve performed in many international venues. This year, we did fewer shows,” he noted, adding that he enjoyed trying local delicacies like “jalebi and fafda” during his visit.

The two also discussed the sentiment of ‘Mera Bharat Mahaan.’ Diljit reflected, “We learned about Mera Bharat Mahaan in school, but traveling across the country helped me truly appreciate it.”

In response, the Prime Minister remarked, “India’s true strength lies in its grandeur. We are a vibrant society.” He praised Diljit, saying, “It’s heartwarming to see a youth from rural India gain global recognition. Your name, Diljit, is a testament to your ability to connect with people.”
