The monthly meeting of Powercom Pensioners Association Mandal Samrala was held under the chairmanship of Mandal Pradhan Sikander Singh. The demands and problems of the pensioners were discussed in the meeting and the struggles to be done in the future were deliberated upon.
While addressing the colleagues, Pradhan Sikander Singh condemned the anti-employee and anti-people policies of the government and the management and demanded that the 42 pending installments of DA and pay scale of the pensioners be released in lump sum or in maximum 12 installments.
Similarly, the pending amount of leave in cash should also be given in lump sum, the remaining four installments of dearness allowance should be released immediately along with the arrears, the pay scales of the pensioners who retired before 31 December 2015 should be improved by a factor of 2.59, medical cashless scheme should be implemented, 23-year pay scale should be implemented unconditionally for all the pensioners, old pension scheme should be restored, pensioners should be given concession in electricity.
During the meeting, Secretary Bharpoor Singh said that the Pensioners Association has decided that on the call of Punjab Employees-Pensioners Joint Front, a large number of people will participate in the protest being held in Ludhiana South by-election on June 14 and a strong struggle will be done against the wrong policies of the government against the employees and pensioners and the common people will be made aware.
Supporting the nationwide strike to be held on July 9, participation will also be made in it. Mandal President Sikander Singh said that large number of participation will be ensured in the joint protest to be held in Ludhiana by-election on June 14.
